Laughter is the Best Medicine

By Graeme Teague Laughter is the best Medicine, it is a common saying we have heard for countless years. But is it true? Medical research has shown the body responds well to humor, it helps us deal with illnesses, the pressures of day to day life; we cope better at work and will change the quality of our lives. We laugh for different reasons, what I find humorous may not necessarily make you laugh. But whatever makes us laugh makes us feel good. And for a detectable health reason Laughter has been shown to reduce certain stress hormones, changes the flight-fright responses that occur in times of stress. Laughter boosts our immune system, lowers our blood pressure, and increases our oxygen levels. Laughter due to its physical nature gives us an overall body workout. So you can have fun, keep fit and stay healthy all in one easy step. Just laugh So we should laugh more, read comics, see funny or light-hearted movies, watch comedies on television etc. Whatever it takes just laugh and more fun. John Kehoe said in one of his books if you are not doing three fun things in a day, you are ageing quicker than you should. Can you remember when you last did three fun things in a day or even a week? A person I know has a job that isnt overly interesting you guessed it, hes an Accountant. One of the things he does each day to bring a bit of fun into his job is to choose a word each day. Now this word is not necessarily a normal word. It might be Quasimodo for example. He then has to use this word in context in three conversations in his day without anybody suspecting. It doesnt detract from his work but it makes it more fun for him. If you have a larger staff numbers, this can get very interesting and a great way to make the day go quicker and keeping the day light and fun filled. But there are numerous things to do, both at work and at home to add laughter into our lives. Look at the number of web-sites that are dedicated to humor, many will send you a joke of the day, or a humorous quote etc. An email with a small laugh attached is a good way to start the day. But make a point of seeing a funny movie, or hiring a DVD regularly to lighten the mood. Buy TV series that you find funny and watch them every now and then. But make it a habit; it is the habitual nature of things that bring us down. Changing bad habits to good will also raise the energy and laughter in our lives. Remember, laughter is the best medicine. Life is fast paced, hectic and chaotic at times. Taking a break and having a laugh with friends or family is one of the best remedies you can have go ahead just laugh. Fast Stress Relief

Flirting: Signs Of Interest

By Dave Thomas When flirting, you should be on the lookout for signs of interest. If you see at least four of the following signs in the body language of the person you are with, it is likely that they are interested in you, and you are being given a green light to move things further! 1. Lengthy eye contact. Eye contact maintained over a period of four seconds or more is unusual between casual acquaintances or friends, but not amongst lovers; and it can be rather intimidating, but if you are flirting with someone and they know that you could be flirting with them, they are sending you an explicit message with the power of eye contact! This could also come from somebody who hates you, but that is unlikely from a stranger. 2. Mirroring. If your posture tends to be similar to that of the other person and tend to do what you do at about the same time that you do it, they are either consciously or unconsciously developing a rapport with you. You can test this by subtly changing one aspect of your posture (the position of an arm, for example) and noticing whether this change is reflected in the other person during the next minute. 3. Where the body and feet are pointing. If you are with someone who is happy to remain with you at the moment, they will generally speaking have turned to face you. If the person wishes they were somewhere else, they will likely have turned away from you, even if they are facing you; look for the legs and feet pointing somewhere else, perhaps even towards a door. Note that this only applies where you are in a one-on-one situation, and doesn't apply between groups of people. 4. Leaning in towards you. Somebody leaning in towards you is displaying a definite sign of interest, possibly even excitement! This is usually accompanied by open arms and legs. Conversely, somebody leaning away from you, perhaps with their arms and legs crossed, is displaying a lack of interest. If they are leaning in towards you and you do the same, you can be sure that something more is likely to happen, because it is very likely to lead to the next stage! 5. Touch. Firstly, if you are close enough to touch easily then that's a good sign. There are several things to look for. Hands resting across a table, on your side of it, that are close enough to touch, typically from a woman, signify interest; she doesn't want to touch first, but she would like to be touched! Picking off a piece of lint from clothes, whether it exists or not, is another good sign. Touching upper arms when sitting next to each other where it is not especially crowded is often done. Lingering touches send an even stronger flirting signal! 6. Raising eyebrows upon first meeting. This is usually over very quickly, lasting about a quarter of a second. As it happens on first meeting, you need to be quick to look for this one! The longer it lasts, the more interest lies beneath, as it can last for up to a second. 7. They are looking at your face or body other than your eyes, especially your mouth or your erogenous zones. They are probably imagining what it would be like to kiss that part of you! David Thomas is a web publisher with a wide range of interests, including psychology and dating. He runs an online dating community web site where people add their own comments to the free advice given. It's a great place to learn! Signs and Symbols

By Mellody Davis In the year 2005, the American Constitution has put into law that the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed legally unless there is a historic theme to the display. I say what a joke. If you really think about it the whole Bible is Historic from the beginning of time. I ask this question does science displays show any historic meaning, or furthermore does the nakedness of Greek Mythology displays show any historic facts. I guess it depends on what historic fact is being emphasize or whom is in control. We have many structures in America that have everything from reptiles to who knows what. I ask why is that it we can put up with others signs and symbols, but they cant put up with ours. Does it hurt them so much when they see the Ten Commandments displayed. If so why? What is the underlining cause of your hurt or contempt. After all if you can except the in God we trust symbol on the American dollar, why cant you accept the viewing of the Ten Commandments. Lets see what the Bible says about Symbolization. In the book of Ezekiel 41:18 it says were carved cherubim and palm trees. Palm trees alternated with cherubim. Each cherub had two faces; the face of a man toward the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion toward the palm tree on the other. Now the NIV Bible dictionary states that the Cherub means this. A winged, angelic being who exists primarily to glorify God and to vindicate Gods holiness against the presumptuous pride of fallen humans. Symbolic attendant marking the place of God enthronement in his earthly kingdom (Exodus 25:18) The plural co cherub is cherubim. If people were really trying to enforce their belief on others, wouldnt they create a cherubim. I think the Ten Commandments is a very good way of showing the historic fact not only of the Biblical sense, but also in the American sense for which this country was founded. Its like back in the 1950s when they insisted that the teaching of the Bible not be included in the school criteria. Now look at what we have today in Americas public school system, we have drugs, guns, gangs, pregnancy, rape, cheating of school grades by teachers and students. Yes I guess it was a good idea to remove Christ from school. But good for whom I wonder, think about it. It is written in 1Timothy 4:13 it says Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Now I ask when will we get back to basics, if ever?
When will we reserve the right to uphold the fundamentals on which this country was founded? Can someone tell me if it has change if so where is it written? To conclude in the book of 2Thessalonians 2:15 it says So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. Love Always,
Your Sister in Christ,

Silicone Breast Implants Revived by FDA

By Frank Vanderlugt On July 28 2005, the FDA issued a letter of approval to Mentor Corp ending the the thirteen year old ban on silicone-gel breast implants. This move came about as Mentor Corp. persuaded the FDA that its newer silicone implants are less dangerous and more durable than older versions. The company will employ these implants only under the following strict safety conditions approved by the FDA. - Prospective patients must sign a consent form acknowledging that they realise the risks of a silicone breast implant including the fact that they could break and need replacement or removal. - Mentor is only allowed to sell silicone breast implants to board-certified plastic surgeons who complete a successful practical training program to learn how to insert these implants in a way that minimizes the odds of breakage. - Mentor must produce and maintain a registry to track the implant patients long term results. - Patients must be educated about the fact that if an implant breaks, the effect of the breakage typically doesn't cause immediate symptoms. Further it is advised to have an MRI after 5 years and 2 years thereafter to check for breakage. - Mentor must conduct a ten year study to determine the percentage of breast implants that will break in that time. - The study must be reviewed by an independent committee. - The results of Mentor's breast implant program will be reviewed by the FDA in 5 years to verify that the implants are performing as expected. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 334,052 breast augmentations were performed in the United States in 2004 - the vast majority employing salt water filled implants that are sold without restriction. Consumer surveys predict that if the silicone breast implants return to the market, 200,000 women will have them installed in the 1st year. Silicone-gel breast implants began selling in 1962 and were banned in 1992 amid health fears. Research since then has shown no statistical correlation between silicone breast implants and cancer or auto-immune disease such as lupus. Some women will swear that their health deteriorated from the moment they had their implants placed, but this is anecdotal evidence. When researchers compare a large group of women with implants to an equally large group without them, no difference between the two groups is found in the number of women with cancer or autoimmune disease. Formation of excess scar tissue due to a foreign-body reaction is common.
If it is localized, it can cause traction and rippling effects in the appearance of the implant. If the scar tissue completely encircles the implant the condition is called capsular contraction.
These scars can bind the implant into an unnatural round shape, so that it appears the woman has a baseball stuck under the skin on her chest. This condition is more common with smooth-walled silicone implants, though it occurs to a lesser extent with saline implants as well. Implants placed behind the chest muscle have a much lower incidence of this problem.
Surgeons can sometimes break the scar tissue manually (which is not recommeded, as it can break the implant and void the manufacturer's warranty) , but often follow-up surgery is needed. The asthma drug Accolate has been used with some success to prevent and even reverse capsular contraction, though months of treatment may be required. Other possible complications include seroma (a collection of serous fluid), hematoma (blood), synmastia (breasts that appear to be fused in the center), bottoming out (implant slides too far down the chest),
double-fold ( the implant's outline does not corresspond to the natural breast crease), deflation (the implant breaks), tissue necrosis (localized death of tissue) and infection. You Can't Grow A Beautiful Rose Garden Without The Right Rose Gardening Accessories

By Tim Gorman Once you start to develop your rose garden, a time will come when you start to think about adding some rose gardening accessories. These might be aesthetic additions, or they may be accessories that will help you maintain a healthy rose garden more easily. The word accessories is a rather vague one. You need to think about what exactly it is you're looking for when it comes to rose gardening accessories. Do you mean tools that aren't essential for developing or maintaining your rose garden, but would certainly make life much easier for you? Or would you like to add some decorations to your rose garden, to help improve its appearance. If equipment is what you're looking for, there are many different products that you can use to help make taking care of your rose garden easier, and even more enjoyable. Some people find that once they get started on a rose garden, it just seems to keep on getting bigger. If thats you, then you may want to trade in your garden claw and get a good quality auger instead. You can even use a drill with your auger, if you buy the right one, which makes loosening the soil a much easier job. Plus it's a good excuse to use a power tool! Stakes are another great accessory, and make it much easier for small, flimsy rose bushes to develop a strong, upright pattern of growth. There are also a huge variety of decorative garden items available, if that's what you're looking for. Garden gnomes are always popular, and nowadays you can buy small concrete statues in a huge range of creatures and colors. Fairies are wonderful if you've got hidden nooks and crannies in your garden. Perhaps you want to buy an accessory that's both decorative and practical - such as a miniature picket fence. This can look very attractive around the border of your rose garden, but at the same time keeps your pets or small children away from the thorns. Nightlights are also great for enhancing your garden, and you can buy all sorts of interesting designs such as castles or lighthouses. If you're looking for rose garden accessories, the best place to start is in your local nursery or a home and gardens store. Have fun making your rose garden more beautiful! Dating Bliss For Singles And Those In A Relationship 8

By Sebastian Foss GIVE EACH OTHER BREATHING SPACE When people are in courtship, they sometimes allow the joy and excitement of a new relationship to lead into making silly moves, and funny decisions. Singles in courtship need to spend time with each other to get to know each other, however visitations should be bored with each other. There must be balance in the life of singles in courtship to avoid extremes. - Reserved and caution singles
- Desperate and needy singles These are two extremes that should be avoided. Everybody needs time alone with himself/herself and we must respect and appreciate this in our partner without felling rejected and unwanted. Just as you need time alone so also your partner needs time alone. HANDLE CONFLICT WITH CARE In every genuine and true friendship, there are times of conflicts. It may be conflicts of ideas, opinions or otherwise, but no matter what, conflicts must not be allowed to stain pure friendship. Conflicts should be handle with love, maturity and forgiveness. Sometimes you may have to disagree to agree and misunderstand to understand. The ability to resolve conflict without blowing up is a major quality of a healthy relationship. Where there is no maturity in resolving conflicts the relationship will always encounter problems. Conflicts are not always a license for week break up, because if every relationship in life breaks up due to conflicts, then only God knows how many relationships will still exist today. In your marriage relationship, friendship, business relationship, parental relationship etc. conflicts and storms will come, nut the way you handle it determines whether you will come out at all and if you do come out whether youll do so bitter or better. DONT EXPECT SOMEONE TO MEET YOUR NEEDS There is a place in the heart of man that only God can occupy and we should rid ourselves of unrealistic expectations in order to avoid frustration. Expecting a man or woman to meet all your spiritual, physical, financial, material, social, psychological and emotional need is an evil dream and a mirage. Such expectations only lead to frustrations. You should focus more on how you can meet the need of your partner and not the other way round. Never expect your partner to do only the holy spirit and God can do. If your wife need a kiss, she doesnt need the holy ghost, but if she needs emotional healing and spiritual comfort she need the Holy Ghost not you. MAINTAIN A BALANCE BETWEEN DEPENDENCE AND INDEPENDENCE In life there are things we depend on people for, and things we are all independent about. You might depend on someone to cook for you. But you cannot depend on them to feed. You might depend on people to provide water for you, but you cannot depend on them to bathe you. In all relationships and courtship, there are things we depend on each other for, but we must balance dependence and independence to avoid error. You can depend on a man to assist you spiritual growth but you cant depend on him to determine your spiritual state. You can depend on woman to assist your ministry, but you cannot depend on her to give you direction on how to run the vision; because that is Gods work as the Giver of the vision. I have seen many people make a shipwreck of their lives due to lack of balance in the area. Lawsuit Loan. A New Funding Product

By Fred Coutts Lawsuit Loans. No Risk Loans A relatively new source of financing is now available for both individuals
and business owners. It is called lawsuit financing, often referred to as lawsuit loans or lawsuit funding. But these are not loans because the money does not have to be paid back unless the case is won. Lawsuit financing (loans) help clients who are having financial difficulties. Lawsuit funders do not require credit checks, monthly payments, notes, or any other security. Frequently, claimants have missed work or lost their job and can no longer meet their rent or automobile payments. In the past, these claimants have needed to accept lesser settlement amounts due to pressing financial difficulties. Now, clients can sustain their personal lives and give the attorney the necessary time to achieve the full value of the case. Often times, individual claimants and commercial litigants require financial loan assistance prior to settlement or judgment. Types of cases that qualify are: - Personal Injury: Automobile Accidents, Any Type - Malpractice: Medical-Legal, Accounting, Construction, - Wrongful Termination - Discrimination - Harassment: Sexual/Rape, Any Type -And much more There are a handful of companies that provide lawsuit funding. For more information on these lawsuit
loan companies please visit http://www.fredcoutts.com/indexlawsuit.htm. Each company provides funding that is specific to their criteria. All lawsuit funding companies will provide funding
for personal injury lawsuits. But there are only a couple that will fund commercial and other non- personal injury lawsuit cases. Rates will vary depending upon the risk. Lawsuit funding companies will generally finance up to 10-15% of the potential settlement value. For example, if the case has a potential value of $100,000, you can expect a funding offer of $10,000 to $15,000. Lawsuit funding companies carefully analyze the cases they choose to fund. They must like the lawyer as well as the potential settlement value. Lawsuit funding is available in most states and can be a very beneficial source of funds. Some Smells Cause Headache

By Mike Lindsey Did you know that some smells cause headache? Its true, the intoxicating or stupefying fragrances of some perfumes and room fresheners are some of the odors, that if you inhale them long enough, you will find that these smells cause headache. This need not be something that you have used on your own body. It can be a perfume that your neighbour has used. So if you sit next to person and feel that your head is getting woozy, try to move to a safe distance away. Maybe 5 or 10 feet away if necessary! Unless of course its your wife, then thats a different story. You should also remove your hair gel before you go to bed. Hair gels can maybe give you that great look but take care to remove it from your hair before you go to bed. Not only is it bad for your hair to have it on for to long, but it is all chemicals and it is bad for you to sleep all night inhaling these chemicals and the mild perfume that most hair gels have, these smells cause headache. Hair gel also has the effect of sealing off all the pores on your scalp. So in the night, the skin on the scalp of your head cannot breathe and this is bad for your head as well. Investigation Of DUI Cases - What Are The SFST's?

By Darren Kavinoky How do CA courts deal with FSTs that are not performed in accordance with NHTSA? The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) has done extensive studies of field sobriety testing (FSTs) in order to determine the probability of intoxication. Law enforcement agencies have utilized FSTs for many years to develop probable cause for arrest and as evidence to be used in the prosecution for drunk driving. However, not all FSTs have been scientifically determined to be accurate reflectors of alcohol intoxication. NHTSA has determined that three FSTs are accurate indicators of alcohol intoxication, when administered in a standardized manner. These tests are called Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs): 1. Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN). HGN is an eye test that is 77% accurate in reflecting a blood alcohol count (BAC) above .10%. Nystagmus is an involuntary jerking of the eyes at a certain angle, off to the side. 2. Walk-and-Turn (WAT). WAT is a walking test that is 68% accurate in reflecting a BAC above .10%. 3. One-Leg Stand (OLS). OLS is a test done in a stationary position that is 65% accurate in reflecting a BAC above .10%. The HGN in combination with the WAT reflects an 80% accuracy rate in determining a BAC above .10%. The WAT and the OLS are divided attention tests. Divided attention tests require a subject to listen to and follow instructions while performing simple physical movements. Sober individuals are supposed to perform these tests with no problem. Impaired individuals, however, have difficulty with tasks requiring their attention to be divided between simple mental and physical exercises. As mentioned above, law enforcement agencies utilize FSTs in addition to SFSTs. The SFSTs have an advantage in that they have scientific backing. However, FSTs do not have such scientific data to support the conclusion that the drunk driving subject is intoxicated. Examples of FSTs include: the Rhomberg Balancing Test, Finger to Nose, Alphabet Test, Count Down, and Hand Pat, among many others. Even though the FSTs do not have scientific backing reflecting reliability, most courts will still admit the tests into evidence. In California, courts allow all FSTs into evidence, but defense counsel can attack the weight of the evidence by challenging the reliability of the non-standardized tests. Other states only allow the actual SFSTs into evidence. Inexpensive Wedding Decorations and Supplies

By Elizabeth Morgan Weddings tend to be frightfully expensive. Often couples postpone a wedding because their financial situation does not allow them to go ahead with all that they have planned for their wedding. It is not necessary that all weddings be expensive. A wedding can be made beautiful and memorable yet inexpensive using some imagination. Wedding decorations is an area that offers ample scope for cutting costs. Planning to get married around the Christmas holiday can be a great idea. Usually, churches and reception halls are already decorated during this season, cutting down on what you need for decorations. Keep a watch out for the after holiday sales. Decorative products are available for far less after a major holiday. Red hearts are available for great prices after Valentine's Day; lights are available for a fraction of the cost after Christmas. While shopping for wedding decorations, avoid the wedding-specific area of the store. The same products are usually available at far cheaper rates in other areas of the store. A string of pearls may cost as much as three or four times the cost of unstrung pearls in the sewing area. All you need to do is to string them together, which does not take much timr or skill. Buying seasonal flowers is another money saving option. Flowers that are out of season can be horrendously expensive. Brides can request the bridesmaids and other family members to help out with the floral arrangements instead of opting for a professional arranger, in order to save money as well. Checking with other brides in the area and exploring the feasibility of sharing the decorations is money saving idea. Making ones own invitations is also a very good idea; using postcards instead of using the usual reply cards with envelopes could also save money. One can also ask for discounts while buying supplies for a wedding. What people dont realize most of the time is that everything is really negotiable. Holding the wedding during the lean season can also save money, as the wedding service providers tend to offer discounts during this period. Starting a Business from Scratch with an Unsecured Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mary_Wise]Mary Wise You surely wonder which type of loan you need, weather you qualify for a business loan or not, where you can get the loan that you need and how can you improve your chances of getting approved. Well, read on as all your questions are about to be answered. When you think about starting a new business, the first thing you think about is a business loan, yet youd be mistaken if you think you can get approved for a business loan. Business loans are only for running businesses with at least a 3 year running provable credit history. Unsecured Business Loans If you want to start a new business from scratch or get finance for your running business that doesnt have 3 years of credit history yet, youll have to apply for an unsecured loan. Since unsecured loans carry no collateral, your credit score or the firms credit score will determine your ability to obtain the loan along with the interest rate youll be charged. The reason why an unsecured loan is the smart way to go is that, businesses tend to generate income rapidly once everything is settled up, so youll be able to repay it sooner and avoid the risk of repossession if something goes wrong. The flexibility associated with unsecured loans is what makes them the rule when it comes to businesses. Specific Requirements Since youll be applying for an unsecured loan for starting a new business, and given that there are lenders specialized in dealing with this kind of situations, you should get prepared for this loan process by putting together the following documentation: You need to prepare a Business Outline; youll include in this paper all the information regarding the future business: its structure, market conditions, employees needed, machinery needed, etc. Anything that a capitalist would like to know before giving his money for an investment are the same things a lender will want to know. Youll also need to provide a financial avowal stating, if your business has been running for at least a year, everything related to its performance: General Costs, Income, Expenses, Results, etc. There are a lot of forms youll need to fill that will be provided by the lender, but in order for you to be prepared, you should know theyll deal with insurance, legal issues, social security, etc. Loan Amount and Feasibility The loan amount youll be able to get will depend on your credit score and history but lenders are willing to lend $200000 or more as long as they consider your business project to be viable. So you need to concentrate on convincing them that you can achieve everything youve claimed in your business outline. Promises are not enough, you need to show proof that everything you propose is doable and that the only thing you need is the finance that theyll provide. Mary Wise, a professional consultant with twenty years in the financial field, helps people in the process of securing personal loans, mortgage, refinance or consolidation loans and preventing consumers from falling into the hands of fraudulent lenders.

How to Judge Chinese Suzhou Embroidery

By Susan Yip Chinese Suzhou embroidery is a traditional art which has a high requirement on hand skills. A piece of good Suzhou embroidery is a perfect combination of techniques and art, the quality of effect in the artwork becomes a criteria in judging Suzhou Embroidery. Normally we can tell from the following criteria. 1. To judge the concept of the whole picture, in present market, most of the concepts of pictures are similar, so we can tell creative embroidery form ordinary ones. 2. The fineness of the needlework: it plays the most important role in a picture. It should be very clear where the thread should be thick and where it should be thin, and they should hide the thread head and knot as well. In order to make very fine embroidery, the thread must be divided into thinner ones. Splitting the silk thread is one of the traditional techniques of Chinese Suzhou embroidery, that means to divide the thread into several strands. Like half or a quarter of the original thickness, or even thinner. If you want to embroider the tail of golden fish, you should use very thin silk strands to express a sense of lightness and transparency. The silk strand used for the body of a fish should be thicker, giving people a sense of weight. If you want to embroider a stone, or a tree trunk, you must use thick thread, and a more random pattern. And for the stitching of a cat, a color change must be used for its fur, then the finished fur of the cat will be as vivid as real cat fur. The last key point is that the needlework should be dense. The low quality embroidery is just printing the base picture, then matching it with several threads with similar color, and it will give people the impression of embroidery if you stand far away from the picture. But if you look at it carefully, you will find the pattern in the back.( Since the picture is printed, and after a period of time, the color of the ink will fade, it doesn't last long.) This kind of embroidery is fake. An embroidery with high art value also has the base picture, but no matter how you check the picture, you will never find it on the base. The base picture has been covered by silk thread.( Good embroidery is usually made by hand. The procedure of Mechanical Graphing and manual graphing is different . Mechanical Graphing Computer jets the picture, then fixes it in the supporting frame. And because silk is quite flexible, it is easy to be deformed when fixed into the frame. But manual embroidery is different , it is fixed into a drawing frame first, then they embroider it. So its impossible to deform. The high value embroidery does not only need the embroidering technique, but also they need the craftsmen knowledge of painting. Because there is no base picture , only a profile of the picture, for color they need the talent of the craftsman. So a good piece of Chinese Suzhou embroidery is not only imitation, but also includes the talent of the craftsman. The disordered stitching embroidery has a special requirements on the thickness of thread, but also thread angle is critical. To use the color of the thread to show the bright and dark sides of the picture, they need the crafts man to have a deep understanding of the application of color. 3. The process of the artwork's color and art effect. That means the brightness and color should match well, and transition naturally. Such as an embroidered cat, the most difficult part is the pair of eyes. The craftsman needs more than twenty different colors to transition from one color to another, making the eyes alive and vivid.
An embroidery with high value should have a beautiful pattern, fine needlework, elegant colors, and deep meaning. Choosing a Cell Phone Plan for Your Child

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Shane_Floyd]Shane Floyd If you are the parent of a teen or a pre-teen, chances are you have been faced with this question: Should I allow my child to have a cell phone? If you've already determined that cell phone ownership would be a wise idea for your son or daughter, the next question you'll confront is: Which cell phone plan would be best for the younger member or members of the family? As you might expect, there are a number of factors to consider when selecting cell phone service for your child: A Lone-Ranger Plan. This stand-alone plan allows your teen to have his or her own private cell phone account. For the most part, that means keeping usage and per-minute fees under control. Your teen will talk less-and you will save more money in the long run. The Add-On. With this type of plan, phone service for your child is added onto your own cell phone account. This means that you'll need to share minutes with your child-along with sharing the responsibility of phone ownership. The Pre-Paid Version. With this plan, you'll pay for your child's cell phone minutes in advance. When the minutes have been used up, the service ends. While this may be the most economical option, it can also be the most frustrating-especially if your teen loses service during an emergency or another inopportune time. A Local Unlimited Program. If your teen will be making only local calls, this plan may be your best bet, since local calling minutes are unlimited. However, your teen will have to pay costly long-distance fees with this type of plan. Making Your Decision Talk with your teenager about how the cell phone will be used. If you both agree that your child will primarily be calling local friends and relatives, you'll probably want to opt for a local unlimited plan. If you feel that your teen is not yet responsible enough to keep track of minutes, a prepaid program may be the most appropriate choice. Also, be sure to do some comparison shopping before making your final choice. This means comparing policies involving anytime minutes, weekend minutes, general monthly charges, long distance fees, and peak minutes. You may also need to ask detailed questions, such as what the charges for text messages are; what the fees for Internet access might be: and whether you can alter the plan during the time when the contract is in force. In addition, you may want to talk to other parents about their experiences with various cell phone plans. If you find a number of couples complaining about a particular provider, you may want to take your business elsewhere. After all, you don't want your teen to be stranded on the highway with a cell phone that keeps flashing a "no service" warning. The Final Analysis In the end, you may discover that a family plan works best. This is because such a plan enables you to divvy up minutes to members of your brood. Such a plan also instills family cooperation, encouraging better communication between parents and children and between brothers and sisters. Shared minute plans can offer similar benefits. If you find that the plan you select meets your family's needs-if the members of your household seldom complain about service-chances are you've found the appropriate plan. And that should make each member of the family happy! Go to [http://www.telecombeacon.com/cellpcs.html]www.telecombeacon.com/cellpcs.html for more helpful cellular guides and great cell phone deals. Moses v. Jesus: Why do Conservative Christians Prefer Moses' Commandments to Jesus' Beatitudes?

By Hans Hacker Why are conservative Christians so concerned about displaying the Ten Commandments in public and especially in courtrooms? Conservatives and their lawyers claim that the Ten Commandments are (or, should regain their position) at the heart of American jurisprudence because the Decalogue represents our commitment to Rule of Law. And, they have made these arguments in cases like McCreary County v. ACLU of Kentucky[1] (in which the ACLU challenged the legality of displaying framed copies of the Ten Commandments in two Kentucky courtrooms) and Van Orden v. Perry[2] (involving a challenge to the legality of a Ten Commandments monument displayed as part of a statehouse exhibit). Immediately after the Supreme Court decided these two cases, Mat Staver, the conservative Christian attorney who argued the McCreary County case, stated The Ten Commandments have become a universally recognized symbol of law because of its [sic] influence on our law and notions of right and wrong. The Court should recognize the Ten Commandments are more than an historical relic. The Founders would be outraged that we are even debating the constitutionality of the Ten Commandments. That the Ten Commandments would be deemed unconstitutional is an insult to the Constitution, to our shared religious history [3] While the Supreme Court decisions released this week in these two cases did little to resolve the issue of religious displays, they elevate the issue in the American culture wars while obscuring a broader set of questions that we should consider: Are the Ten Commandments really a building block of American society, and a representation of our preference for order? If they are, should they be? Given our culture, tradition and values, should we display the Ten Commandments publicly as a sign of reverence for our institutions? Frankly, I doubt it. I am certainly not against religious displays in public.[4] But, I would be much more in favor of the idea if conservatives were arguing for the public display of what should be the set of tenets at the center of Christianity and its influence of society - the Beatitudes. In pursuing this discussion, it is easy to get off track, and onto a kind of argument that is not particularly productive - the appropriateness of displaying religious documents in public forums,[5] or appropriate standards of review for governmental policies implicating religion.[6] I hope we dont, because I want to raise an issue related to the questions I posed above, one that I find much more interesting. Its time for conservative Christians to decide who do you like better, Moses or Jesus? It cant possibly be both, because as we know from St. Pauls letters that Jesus freed us from the Law (promulgated by God through Moses, in the Christian and Judaic traditions). Jesus Beatitudes are a new law of redemption leading to freedom, peace, charity and happiness. The word beatitude itself comes from the Latin beatitudo (meaning happiness). Jesus mission to the world was to preach that the Kingdom of God is at hand. He did not tack on and, God is really angry so theres going to be hell to pay. In short, Jesus message was not one of retributive justice carried out by a set of state institutions that enforce a religious code for living. So why are conservative Christians, the heirs of Jesus mercy and love, supporting Moses over Jesus? Rejection of the Ten Commandments by courts has contributed to disaffection with the society, belief that Christian values are under attack, and sustained political and legal action on the part of the conservative Christian social movement. Certain, not all conservative Christians would side with Moses on this score, but they are the exceptions to the rule. If others thought about it, they would realize that they are backing the wrong horse, and could make a better argument using the Beatitudes. I would like to see courts argue against a public display of words like blessed are the peacemakers, or (even better) blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Im certain courts would insist that such words would have to be placed within an historical context. But, can you see courts today objecting to consideration of the beatitudes and blessed are the merciful before sentencing, as they did recently when they overturned the decision of a jury that considered the Old Testament during deliberation? So, why then is the punitive justice of Mosaic Law equated with Christian principles when Jesus himself preached peace and mercy, not an eye for an eye? The answer is not that conservative Christians are uncomfortable with a legal status that places them on the outside. Conservatives of all stripes actually feel much more comfortable on the outside of the system then the inside. Once they gain political power they have just as much trouble as any other winners in managing the state and maintaining their principles. The strange part is that they would want to win at all. The images of Mosaic Law are the armies of Israel conquering Canaan, and later the armies of Christian Europe conquering Jerusalem. The image of the Beatitudes is of the suffering Christ on the Cross, put there by the state. If conservative Christians today feel that they have been cut off from government (and their values shunted aside), isnt that what is supposed to happen? Blessed are ye when [men] shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Even more perplexing, if conservative Christians did manage to dominate the institutions of government, why would they want to put the principles of Moses into practice rather than those of Jesus who superseded him? The Ten Commandments are the symbol of a system that while claiming to be Christian (if not in origin, then in practice) in no way resembles the work of Christ. This system endorses a way of living that shows little of the respect for human dignity that is at the heart of Jesus work. Yet its adherents claim to be followers of Christ. So, why do they endorse the eye for an eye logic that Christ himself refutes when constructing a state based on Christian principles? I think the answer lies in ideology and authoritarianism. People prefer the easy answer to the question of who is good and who is bad. Mosaic Law provides the most parsimonious response to both criminal conduct and behavior outside the mainstream. In fact, Mosaic Law (or, at least those parts of it that we like to keep around the stone my mother at the gates of the city part is a bit pass) is applied much more easily and consistently (particularly within the state) than Jesus mercy and peace. From that standpoint, it is more coherent, and almost scientific in its application. There is action, and there is reaction. Law becomes routinized, predictable, and consistent. It is a man-made list of proscriptions, but it ultimately takes on the form of a natural and undeniable force applied unthinkingly and automatically. You do the crime, you do the time. Punishing those whose behavior is offensive makes logical sense from a self-centered point of view. Its supposed to make us feel better when the state carries it out. Retribution restores our faith that, if we behave as the state wants us to behave, we will be protected. For those who behave against the authority of the state, there will be retribution. People demonstrate the same kind of faith in the systems ability to pass judgment in the economic sphere as well. Americans conflate economic success with personal virtue. The difficulty with the legal paradigm based on Mosaic Law is this it is not the work of Jesus. Under the Mosaic Law, justice is imputed citizens are not called upon to evaluate the effectiveness of the system in achieving justice, or its usefulness in establishing social arrangements and distributions of power, wealth, or status. Furthermore, citizens are not required to think carefully about themselves in relation to others. In promoting consistency and uniformity, the law asks no one to be unselfish, to turn the other cheek, or to set aside asserting ones rights against someone else in favor of forgiveness and community with others. This is a way of thinking about life characterized by atomism more in line with scientific theory than with religious doctrine. Unfortunately, in America alternative modes of thinking are difficult to defend in the abstract mainly because they are abstract and have no adherents to defend them. Social scientists recognize this. Jennifer Hochschild argues that we have individualized[7] even personal responsibilities and duties to community. In other words, there must be some individual benefit for Americans if they will endorse policies that require recognition of others rights or needs. Placing the Ten Commandments in courtrooms merely reinforces our ideological attachments, rationalizes a type of justice that is distinctly unchristian, and focuses our attention on what is best for self rather than what is most useful for building the rich human interaction that is the basis for any productive society. Law-abidingness (even when that law is clearly unjust) is considered a sign of virtue, merit and innate goodness. The Ten Commandments are the very embodiment of this kind of justice losers deserve to lose and criminals to be punished, and those who do not conform should experience punishment because nonconformity is a purely personal failing. That is the essence of democratic authoritarianism. As Hochschild notes, there is no absolute reason for envisioning life in this way, it is simply an epistemological choice But to the degree that the focus carries a moral message, it points to a weakness at the very heart [8] of Americanism because we have been deceived into believing its universality. This leaves us few options for evaluating the usefulness of our system of justice. It also explains why it is so hard to argue for the Beatitudes, and why conservative Christians see an ancient law, outmoded by the work of their own savior, as embodying the central tenants of their faith. We can, however, draw two conclusions. First, the tenets of conservative Christianity are based in part on socio-cultural norms and preferences for behavior. Perhaps if conservative Christianity endorsed Christ as its central figure it could make some legitimate claim to universality. But, it has failed to do so. Furthermore, conservative Christianity fails to endorse all Mosaic law, picking and choosing which laws to follow and enforce based solely on what is socially acceptable. Thus, all that can be said about this is that conservative Christians favor a culturally derived sense of justice, that they represent this cultural derived sense of justice as both universally good and related to Christ, but that it actually emanates from the Ten Commandments, a law outmoded by Christ himself. If we can agree on this (and I doubt we will), then perhaps we can begin a public dialogue about what social arrangements and definitions of justice are most useful for promoting social good. Second, conservative Christian social activism could in fact be very useful. It is not the activism that is the problem, but the inconsistencies in the principles underlying that action. Perhaps there is a way to endorse the idea of social change, but fundamentally reshape the values that underlie it. However, this project holds little chance for success because conservative Christians deride the idea that social good should ever be a basis for our decisions. This brings us back to the first conclusion the values espoused by conservative Christians supporting the display of the Ten Commandments are culturally derived and time bound despite claims to the contrary. In the end, conservative Christians are fighting the right battle (for social change) using the wrong list. The Beatitudes at their core are pragmatic. Unlike the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes are distinctly lacking in authoritative commands, dogmatic principles, or rigid standards. Take for instance that portion saying Blessed are the poor in spirit, and Blessed are the meek. Poverty in spirit and meekness are qualities of humility, not dogmatic certitude. One cannot imagine the poor in spirit and the meek leading a crusade to kill the infidel they could never be so certain. Thus, both suggest that lacking dogmatic belief and certitude are appropriate characteristics for followers of Christ. They might read blessed are the humble, who are not so arrogant to believe that they know everything and have the right to impose that knowledge on others. Under this mode of thinking, any religious conviction that cannot tolerate uncertainty and that fears open critical self-examination is a form of idolatry. Thus, the Beatitudes supplant the Ten Commandments by introducing an approach to living that contradicts the old list at every point.
Even more strikingly, the Beatitudes imply that if you want to be successful you cannot act as the Ten Commandments dictate you cannot angrily persecute non-adherents from a list of dos and donts. In fact, such persecution is precisely what those who follow the Beatitudes should expect for themselves. Furthermore, Blessed are the merciful presents us with a range of potentially pragmatic behaviors applied across social institutions. Those who show the mercy of Christ are blessed, not those who impose authoritarian power to punish, or those who impose their ideas about right religion on others or even themselves. Unfortunately, the word righteousness in blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness is too often taken to mean the dogmatic form of religiosity. But, in context with the other Beatitudes, it seems to imply that taking the pragmatic stance (characterized by the qualities of mercy, peace, and poverty in the face of uncertainty) is truly to seek after righteousness, and righteousness itself is seeking the best in life despite its ever changing nature. [6] Such disputes are typically politico-moral in nature. The Court has struggled to define appropriate standards that safeguard religion from governmental influence while maintaining the free expressive rights of citizens. Beginning with Engel v. Vitale (1962), the Court continued to refined First Amendment religion clause jurisprudence. Engel and its progeny treat various areas of religion in public life, including public displays such as the one at issue in McCreary County v. ACLU of Kentucky, but also public policies on religious observances by state institutions, state support for religion in public schools, support for religious educational institutions, and recognition of religious beliefs of citizens. Building Buzz for your Club with Online Reviews

By Bob Nicholson Most club owners know that the best marketing tool is good buzz, or word-of-mouth, and that bad word-of-mouth can quickly sink a club. Increasingly, word-of-mouth means discussions in chat rooms, postings on Internet forums, and reviews posted on rating websites. Studies show that the Internet is now the number one source of consumer information ahead of newspapers, TV, and even friends. In other words, when people think about trying a new club, they first do a web search to see what they can find. You may already be using the Internet to promote your club via your website, e-mail lists, and MySpace friends lists. You can control and target your own website and promotions, but you can't control what is said about you on other sites. So how can you be sure you're getting good buzz on the Internet, and prevent bad buzz? First, remember that managing customer impressions starts right in your club. Make sure that your staff is trained to handle service problems and complaints. A complaint that is resolved graciously and quickly can produce a satisfied and loyal customer; a problem that festers can produce an angry critic of your club. Next, be aware of what is being said about your club on the Internet. Regularly search for you club by name (as well as any nicknames that customers may give the club especially the uncomplimentary ones!) You'll probably be surprised at how many places your club is mentioned: MySpace pages, forums, blogs, band sites, DJ sites, community news sites and more. Also, use your favorite search engine to search for nightclub ratings and nightclub reviews sites, and bookmark them in your browser so you can check them regularly. There are several prominent national rating and review sites, but there may also be local sites in your area. To find the local sites, simply include the name of your city in the search; for example: nightclub ratings dallas or nightclub reviews dallas. Once you've found and bookmarked the review sites, check each to see if your club is listed, and the basic information (for example, type of music, hours, and location) is accurate. If the club is not listed, you should see if there is a way to add it yourself, to be sure the listing is accurate. If there are errors in the information, look for a way to contact the site operator with corrections. Finally, check the review sites, and the other sites you've found in your searches, to see what's being said about your clubs. Think of this as an opportunity to find out what your customers really think and say to one another good and bad. You'll sometimes find very negative reviews - perhaps even lies and defamatory comments. If a review is really damaging, you may contact the site operators to see if it can be removed. Very likely the answer will be "no." Review sites don't remove reviews, good or bad, unless they violate the site's rules. (If they did, there would be no negative reviews, and the sites would be pretty useless.) At this point, some business owners begin making threats of legal action. This is almost always a waste of time. Rating and review sites operate as public forums where people can post their opinions. The sites are protected by law, and they are not liable for the opinions posted there. The rating and review sites are often represented by the Electronic Frontier Foundation or the ACLU, so any legal battle will be very costly and almost certain fruitless so let's talk about what you can do instead of making threats. Fortunately, most review sites have a process for you to respond to reviews, and this is worthwhile. The tone of your response should be reasonable and positive. It's good to acknowledge the complaint (even if you believe it's false or exaggerated), and respond to it directly (especially if it's a valid complaint!). For example: "As the reviewer says, we've had some delays in the line on busy nights; we've added another person on the door to speed things up." "We were unaware of the problem in the restroom this reviewer is describing. Our staff checks the restrooms every hour, and we're available for immediate clean-up if a problem is reported." In other words, try hard to put the complaint to rest and sound like a good guy, making the person who wrote the bad review seem less credible. How about a bad review that says something you can't really respond to, like "this club sucks. The music stinks and it's filled with ugly people." In that case, simply talk up the club's positives: "I'm sorry the reviewer doesn't appreciate our music choices. Our club has grown more popular each year for the past three years, and won the 2005 DanceBeat award for best club in Philadelphia." Hopefully you won't need to deal with many negative reviews. Focus you energy on getting positive reviews on the web. Your best assets are you current customers. Your regular customers are likely to say good things about your club, so encourage them to write online reviews. First, visit the major rating sites, and find the URL (web address) of the page where your club is mentioned. Then: * Include the URL on your club flyers, and a link on your club's website ("Rate Club Paradiso at "). * If you have a MySpace friends list, or an e-mail list, you can use it to ask your customers to submit ratings and reviews. * Be sure that DJs, performers, promoters and staff associated with your club visit the rating sites and post reviews. When submitting reviews, ask your friends and customers to talk about the best features of the club, or good experiences they've had. Reviews that simply say "awesome club!" don't carry much weight with readers. Once you get some positive reviews and ratings on the web, publicize the fact! Include your ratings, and excerpts from reviews, in your ads, flyers, and website. Remember that people will talk about your club on the web; make sure you know what is being said!
